Human cell expressed (hcx) recombinant human proteins have human post-translational modifications that can affect immunogenicity and stability. GM-CSF stimulates the growth and differentiation of hematopoietic precursor cells from various lineages, including granulocytes, macrophages, eosinophils and erythrocytes. It is used clinically in myeloid reconstitution following bone marrow transplant, bone marrow transplant engraftment failure or delay, mobilization and following transplantation of autologous peripheral blood progenitor cells, and following induction chemotherapy in older adults with acute myelogenous leukemia. Apollo's hcx GM-CSF consists of 5-50% carbohydrate by weight and has been shown experimentally to be N-glycosylated. Apollo's hcx GM-CSF may also be O-glycosylated.
