Additional Names:
Csfg, G-CSF, MGI-IG, Csfg, Granulocyte colony-stimulating factor
Background:
G-CSF is a hematopoietic growth factor that stimulates the development of committed progenitor cells to neutrophils and enhances the functional activities of the mature end-cell. It is produced in response to specific stimulation by a variety of cells including macrophages, fibroblasts, endothelial cells and bone marrow stroma. G-CSF is being used clinically to facilitate hematopoietic recovery after bone marrow transplantation. Human and murine G-CSF are cross-species reactive. Recombinant murine G-CSF is a 19.0 kDa protein consisting of 179 amino acid residues.
Biological Activity:
The ED50 was determined by the dose - dependent stimulation of the proliferation of murine M - NFS - 60 cells is < 0.05 ng/mL, corresponding to a specific activity of > 2 x 107 units/mg.
