Recombinant protein. The extracellular domain of human GFRAL (aa 19-351) is fused to the N-terminus of the Fc region of human IgG1. Measured by its binding ability in a functional ELISA. Source/Host: HEK 293 cells. Purity: >98% (SDS-PAGE). Lyophilized from 0.2µm-filtered solution in PBS. GFRAL (GDNF receptor alpha-like) is a distant member of the GDNFR family of proteins. Human GFR alpha-like contains a 333aa extracellular domain, a 20aa transmembrane domain and a 23aa cytoplasmic domain. Over the extracellular domain, human GFRAL shares 72% and 71% identity with mouse and rat GFRAL, respectively. It is expressed on both fetal and adult hindbrain neurons of the CNS and functions as an anti-apoptotic molecule during neuronal stress. GFRAL is a functional receptor for GDF15, facilitating weight-loss functions of the protein through c-Ret downstream signaling. GFRAL and GDF15 signaling is implicated in diet-based obesity and insulin resistance.
