Long Description:
Chemical. CAS: 905-99-7. Formula: C16H18O9. MW: 354.31. Isolated from plant source. Cryptochlorogenic acid (isomer of chlorogenic acid) is a phenolic acid found in various plant species, displaying diverse biological activities. It inhibits rat lens aldose reductase (RLAR) in vitro. Cryptochlorogenic acid has antibiotic/antibacterial activity inhibiting the growth of S. aureus. It is an antioxidant and free radical scavenger in a cell-free assay. Cryptochlorogenic acid is allergenic, inducing degranulation of RBL-2H3 mast cells in vitro and increasing plasma serotonin and beta-hexosaminidase levels in guinea pigs in vivo. Can be used as a reference compound for the quantification in high performance liquid chromatography-diode array detector (HPLC-DAD).
