Methylnaltrexone, used in form of methylnaltrexone bromide, is one of the newer agents of peripherally-acting μ-opioid antagonists. Methylnaltrexone acts to reverse some of the side effects of opioid drugs such as constipation without affecting analgesia or precipitating withdrawals.
