Description:
Primary Normal Human Kidney Proximal Tubule (NhKPT) cells are isolated by positive magnetic selection from a heterogeneous population of cells taken from the cortical part of the kidney after cortex digestion. NhKPT cells are an integral part of the nephron. The proximal tubule regulates the pH of the filtrate by exchanging hydrogen ions for bicarbonate ions, and it is responsible for secreting organic acids, such as creatinine and other bases, into the filtrate. Primary NhKPT cells have been used to research function and pathophysiology of the kidney, toxicity, ion channels, kidney disease progression and more.

Use of PriCoat™ T25 Flasks (G299) or Applied Cell Extracellular Matrix (G422) is required for cell adhesion to the culture vessels. PriGrow X Series Medium (TM5520) + 1% Penicillin/Streptomycin Solution (G255), 37.0°C, 5% CO2.Note: cells are terminally differentiated and can be propagated for at least 15 population doublings.
