Description:
These human small salivary gland epithelial cells have been immortalized using SV40 and are capable of proliferating indefinitely, under the recommended culture conditions. This cell line is particularly valuable for studying the mechanisms of diseases affecting the salivary glands, such as Sjögren's syndrome, which involves the destruction of salivary and other exocrine glands leading to dry mouth and other symptoms. Researchers can use these cells to explore cellular responses to inflammation, infection, and therapeutic treatments. Additionally, these cells are useful for examining the secretion of salivary components, cell signaling pathways, and the effects of various pharmacological agents on salivary gland cells. They offer a robust model for investigating epithelial cell function and pathology in a controlled environment.
Growth Conditions:
PriCoat™ T25 Flasks (G299) or Applied Cell Extracellular Matrix (G422) are recommended for optimal cell culture.  PriGrow X Series Medium (TM9289) + 1% Penicillin/Streptomycin Solution (G255), 37.0°C, 5% CO2.
