Age Gender:
Embryo;Male
Background:
NIH/3T3 cells are a continuously passaged cell line with strong contact inhibition, established from cultures of NIH Swiss mouse embryos. To develop subclones that are more suitable for transformation studies based on their morphological traits, the established NIH/3T3 cell line underwent more than five rounds of subcloning. NIH/3T3 cells are highly sensitive to the focus formation caused by sarcoma viruses and to the propagation of leukemia viruses, making them very useful for DNA transformation and transfection studies; NIH/3T3 cells are negative for mousepox virus.
