Description:
ScienCell's GeneQuery™ Human Obesity qPCR Array Kit (GQH-OBS) profiles 88 key genes involved in the development of human obesity. Obesity occurs when excess body fat accumulates to the extent that it impacts health negatively. It is generally determined by measuring body mass index and is most commonly caused by environmental and lifestyle factors although genetic components can confer susceptibility. Effects of obesity include the increased likelihood of acquiring heart diseases, diabetes, sleeping disorders, cartilaginous diseases, and certain types of cancer. Brief examples of how included genes may be grouped according to their role in establishing obesity shown below:
- Markers and susceptibility: - ADRB2, ENPP1, GHRL, MC4R, POMC, UCP1
- Adipogenesis: - CREB1, LEP, LPL, PLIN2, PPARG
- Lipid and cholesterol metabolism: - ADIPOQ, CETP, CYP19A1, PPARGC1B
- Lipid transport: - APOL2, APOL3, APOL6, CRABP2, NPC2
- Intracellular lipid and fatty acid metabolism: - ACADL, ALOX5, LRP1, MAL, SCD
