Description:
ScienCell's GeneQuery™ Human Obesity qPCR Array Kit (GQH-OBS) profiles 88 key genes involved in the development of human obesity. Obesity occurs when excess body fat accumulates to the extent that it impacts health negatively. It is generally determined by measuring body mass index and is most commonly caused by environmental and lifestyle factors although genetic components can confer susceptibility. Effects of obesity include the increased likelihood of acquiring heart diseases, diabetes, sleeping disorders, cartilaginous diseases, and certain types of cancer. Brief examples of how included genes may be grouped according to their role in establishing obesity shown below:
  • Markers and susceptibility: - ADRB2, ENPP1, GHRL, MC4R, POMC, UCP1
  • Adipogenesis: - CREB1, LEP, LPL, PLIN2, PPARG
  • Lipid and cholesterol metabolism: - ADIPOQ, CETP, CYP19A1, PPARGC1B
  • Lipid transport: - APOL2, APOL3, APOL6, CRABP2, NPC2
  • Intracellular lipid and fatty acid metabolism: - ACADL, ALOX5, LRP1, MAL, SCD
GeneQuery™ qPCR array kits are qPCR ready in a 96-well plate format, with each well containing one primer set that recognizes and efficiently amplifies a specific target gene's cDNA. The carefully designed primers ensure that: (i) the optimal annealing temperature in qPCR analysis is 65°C (with 2 mM Mg^2+ and no DMSO); (ii) the primer set recognizes all known transcript variants of the target gene, unless otherwise noted; and (iii) only one gene is amplified. Each primer set has been validated by qPCR with melt curve analysis and gel electrophoresis.
