Extra Description:
MDF are cryopreserved at passage one and delivered frozen. Each vial contains >5 x 10^5 cells in 1 ml volume.
Long Description:
The skin is composed of two layers: the epidermis and the dermis. Dermal fibroblasts are located in the dermis and play an active role in wound healing and production of extracellular matrix. Fibroblasts secrete a non-rigid extracellular matrix which is rich in type I and/or type III collagen. Dermal fibroblasts have the ability to switch from a proliferative, migratory phase to a contractile, matrix-remodeling phase during wound healing. The plasticity of dermal fibroblasts is vital for wound healing, however, it can also lead to the development of skin disease. Dermal fibroblasts also provide a critical function in skin homeostasis and aging. Mouse dermal fibroblasts (MDF) can be used to further study skin disease, skin aging, and the wound healing process. MDF from ScienCell Research Laboratories are isolated from postnatal day 2 CD-1 mouse skin. MDF are cryopreserved at passage one and delivered frozen. Each vial contains >5 x 10^5 cells in 1 ml volume. MDF are characterized by their spindle morphology and immunofluorescence with antibody specific to fibronectin. MDF are negative for mycoplasma, bacteria, yeast, and fungi. MDF are guaranteed to further expand for 5 population doublings under the conditions provided by ScienCell Research Laboratories. Recommended Medium - It is recommended to use Fibroblast Medium-2 (FM-2, Cat. #2331) for culturing MDF in vitro.
