Fluorescent brightener 28 (Technical Grade) is commonly utilized as a fluorescent whitening agent in the textile industry, particularly for dyeing fibers such as cellulose and other polysaccharides during the padding process. When the plasma membrane is disrupted, it weakly stains the cytoplasm and strongly stains the nucleus. Additionally, it can be employed in detecting chitin in live cells. Fluorescent brightener 28 also serves as a photosensitive light initiator for visible light-emitting diodes (LEDs) in radical photopolymerization.
