Background:
NIH/3T3 is a continuously cultured cell line with high contact inhibition, derived from NIH Swiss mouse embryo tissues. To obtain subclones with morphological features optimal for transformation assays, the parental NIH/3T3 line underwent more than five rounds of subcloning. NIH/3T3 cells are highly susceptible to focus formation induced by sarcoma viruses and to the propagation of leukemia viruses, rendering them widely applicable for DNA transformation and transfection research. This cell line tests negative for ectromelia virus (mousepox). The NIH/3T3-LUC cell line was generated from parental NIH/3T3 cells via lentiviral transduction, and stably expresses luciferase. It is applicable to a variety of in vivo and in vitro experiments requiring cell tracing. The puromycin (Puro) screening concentration is 3.0 ug/mL.
