Background:
HCC38 cells were established in 1992 from breast ductal carcinoma tissue of a 50-year-old Caucasian female. The patient had a prior history of leiomyosarcoma, and her mother died of breast cancer. HCC38 cells are HER2-negative and p53-positive. The epithelial cell-specific markers EGP2 (epithelial glycoprotein 2) and CK19 are positive, while estrogen receptor (ER) and progesterone receptor (PR) are negative.
