Background:
The HMEC-1 cell line is a human microvascular endothelial cell line isolated from the foreskin of a male patient. The cells were subsequently transfected with the pSVT vector, after which they retained many endothelial cell characteristics and were established as an immortalized cell line through continuous passaging. As an immortalized cell line, HMEC-1 provides a continuously renewable source of human microvascular endothelial cells and can be used to construct in vitro models of human dermal microvascular endothelial cells for various research applications. These cells are applicable to studies on angiogenesis, leukocyte trafficking, wound healing, inflammation, circulation, tumor growth and metastasis, cancer research, endothelial function, cell trafficking, surface molecule interactions, drug screening, and toxicological studies in the pharmaceutical and cosmetic industries.
