Background:
HCC1428 was derived from a 49-year-old Caucasian female with breast adenocarcinoma, TNM stage IV, grade 4. The patient carried a homozygous deletion in the FHIT gene, which is also retained in the EBV-transformed lymphoblastoid cell line from the same individual (HCC1428 BL; ATCC CRL-2328). The cell line was initiated on November 4, 1995, and established after 15 months in culture. Deposited by A. F. Gazdar and A. K. Virmani, HCC1428 is an epithelial cell line suitable for cancer research.
