HCC1569 is an epithelial cell line isolated from the breast tissue of a 70-year-old Black female patient with metaplastic breast carcinoma; the patient?s daughter also carries a germline mutation in the FHIT gene. Established in 1995, the cell line took 19 months to stabilize. The FHIT gene is located at chromosomal region 3p14.2, with a G-to-T transversion mutation at nucleotide 651.
