Background:
PC-9 is a cell line derived from human lung adenocarcinoma, with the tissue maintaining a differentiated phenotype. PC-9 was formerly designated PC-14. PC-14 was originally deposited at the RIKEN BioResource Center in 1989 as a cell line established from human lung adenocarcinoma (undifferentiated type). Subsequently, the RIKEN BioResource Center identified via short tandem repeat (STR) profiling that this cell line is identical to PC-9, a cell line derived from human lung adenocarcinoma (differentiated type). This misidentification predated the deposit of the cell line at RIKEN. The cell line was subsequently renamed PC-9 to reflect this authentication result.
