Background:
CMK cells were established in 1985 from the peripheral blood of a 10-month-old boy with Down syndrome and relapsed acute megakaryoblastic leukemia (AML M7). They grow in suspension as large, pleomorphic single cells, with sporadic loose adhesion (<3%); 2?3% of the cell population are large, multinucleated cells. A moderate level of cellular debris accumulates during routine culture, and cell viability generally ranges from 60% to 80%.
