Antibiotic/Antimycotic Solution

Antibiotic/Antimycotic Solution (ABAMS) is a 50mL 100x solution designed to aid researchers in reducing risks of bacterial and fungal contamination. It consists of 10,000 units/mL of Penicillin, 10,000 mL of Streptomycin and 25ml amphotericin B in saline solution. The penicillin interferes with the final stages of synthesis of the bacterial cell wall, while streptomycin binds to the 30S subunit causing a misread. The amphotericin enhances the permeability of the fungal cell wall, making it susceptible to the leakage of its inner contents. 1mL of ABAMS is to be used for every 99mL of medium. The solution is sterile filtered through a 0.2um membrane filter. Specifications - Endotoxin (EU/ml): <0.5. Sterility: Pass.
