Description:
MEM α, or Minimum Essential Medium α, is modified to contain Earle's salts, and is without nucleosides. This basal medium is used with a variety of suspension and adherent mammalian cells, and as a selection for transfected DHFR-negative cells. Supplementation may be required, most commonly10% fetal bovine serum (FBS) for cell culture use, and requires a 5-10% CO2 environment to maintain physiological pH.
