Description:
Methyl behenate is the methyl ester of behenic acid, a long-chain saturated fatty acid. Used in analytical chemistry as a retention index standard in gas chromatography (GC), in cosmetics in emollients or conditioners (moisturizing effect), in organic synthesis as precursor or reference compound for long-chain ester studies. Used to study fatty acid esterification, wax ester biosynthesis, or for surface modification due to its hydrophobic tail.
